Let the party begin in the church - One of my best friends (Nina Präst) is the vicar of Söndrum parish and here she shares her tips for a more personal and spiritual wedding.
- Remember to make the ceremony your own and let the party start there. It is easy to "skip" the ceremony because you are so focused on the party afterwards.
- Involve your loved ones in the ceremony - ask family and friends to read prayers or poems during the ceremony.
- Plan the venue according to your needs. You can be outdoors even in winter!
- Feel free to be outdoors - but always have a backup plan in case the weather doesn't allow you to go outside.
- Hold each other in the way you want - relax and don't try to follow any 'template' for walking, standing or breathing.
- The important thing is you who make the commitment - what you say to each other when you take the vows does not have to be heard in the back row of the church.
- Plan the music for yourselves - what music means a lot to you?
- Spotify in the church can certainly work, but live music gives more presence and fills the church space better.
- Even a small wedding can be a great experience. You don't have to have
a hundred dinner guests to have a great wedding.
- Even small groups can get married in the church or hire a priest for the ceremony.
- If you can - hire a priest or officiant you like.
- Be in the moment!
