Boman's pictures

The King, Carl XII Gustaf, Queen Silvia, Bomans Hotell, Trosa, Rickard L. Eriksson.

At Bomans, we are interested in art...

...and above all photographic art. The collection has been going on for many years and has resulted in a wonderful collection of mostly black and white pictures.

Most of the pictures are purchased at Tres Hombres Art at Hotel Tylösand and The Photogallery in Halmstad.
Some of them are photographed by my son Gustaf Boman

Iggy pop, Gavin Evans, Bomans Hotell, The Photogallery, Trosa.

Iggy Pop

I'm not a big fan of Iggy Pop but I just love this picture. He looks both cocky and bored at the same time.
The image makes me think of a sinewy and weather-beaten Indian.

For me, the feeling in the image is important. I want to laugh, cry or otherwise be moved by what I'm looking at.

Greta Thunberg

This picture of Greta Thunberg seems to both touch and upset.
I often hear guests standing in front of it and either think it is fantastic or horrible.

I like the attitude in her eyes and I think the picture is cool, cocky and bad ass. It demands attention, just like the object itself.

Trosa, Gustaf Boman, Bomans Hotell, Black lives matter

Racism is a health crisis

My son Gustaf lives in NYC where he studied film photography at the New York Film Academy.
He also enjoys photography and we have many of his pictures on Bomans.

This one was taken at Washington Square Park during a Black Lives Matter demonstration.
This picture also creates emotions. I've even been asked why we have it and if we want to make a statement with it.

I love it and I love that Gustaf has taken it!

Benicio del Toro and Brad Pitt

This picture was impossible to resist!
It just screams testosterone. Many of our female guests stop in front of it and just stare, letting out barely audible sighs. Yes, there are also men who look at it with teary eyes and a certain amount of envy.

In this picture, Benicio del Toro looks like I remember my dad in the 70s. A cigarette in his mouth, sunglasses and black hair. Exactly the same mouth as my dad.
Could that be why I like this picture so much?!

Astrid Morberg

Astrid is the daughter of my good friends Inese and Per. Astrid asked Gustaf to shoot new head shots for her portfolio.
In the ¨real¨ pictures she has a lot of make up and perfect hair.

I love this particular picture that was taken before she had made up. She is beautiful just as she is and her eyes are intense. Many guests get stuck in front of it and just look at her and her eyes.

Johnny Rotten

Punk rock came when I had just turned 13 and the Sex Pistols were so exciting for a little girl from Oxelösund. My favorite was actually Sid Vicious, Johnny Rotten seemed a bit creepy we thought, me and my friend Millan.
Well, when I stumbled upon this picture a couple of years ago, I felt that it had to go into Boman's collection.

Walking past it in the dining room, I feel like a 13-year-old again, humming quietly inside my head:

God save the Queen
The fascist regime
They made you a moron...

The lady with the handbag

Most of us probably recognize this picture. It shows a fan-carrying demonstrator for the Nordic National Party being attacked from behind by a 38-year-old woman who hits his head with her bag. The picture was widely circulated and was chosen as Picture of the Year in 1985.

I am so happy about this picture.
In these times when civil courage can have unexpected consequences, it feels more relevant than ever.

Arnold Schwarzenegger

Here we have masculinity personified. For me, it is the cigar that makes the whole picture.

I often find myself standing in front of this picture. He looks really creepy. It feels like he is looking right through me. I can't stop looking
at him. How manly he is!
